Says that costs for a such a project are too high for the company, at the moment.

They should at least try to fit the diesel engine, into the new Dome body and sell it to interested LMP2 teams.

Not gonna work, they need a few years with huge profits and a big market share. Even BMW would think twice before returning to LMP1.

LMP1 is blowing up at the moment. So happy with the current FIA LMP1 rules. They attracted Toyota. This year was Porsche. Nissan will be there next year, and Ferarri is looking into having an LMP1 car. Forget NASCAR, forget F1, sportscars is the place to be right now!

It'll be a while before Mazda tries to sell the SkyActiv diesel to customers in my opinion. The two SkyActiv powered Lola/Multimac P2s in TUSC are running on as many road going parts as possible, likely to reduce costs and test the limits of said parts. I hope SpeedSource can get more power out of these cars. They're the most beautiful Prototypes on the grid and should be front runners.

That said, if Mazda does get in to P1 or becomes a P2 engine supplier: AWESOME.

The last part, not unless something spectacular happens.

Like Mazda having Subaru's growing streak we've seen in the recent years.

Or a big group like Toyota or Renault-Nissan or Daimler, etc. buying Mazda.

Subaru supplied an answer to the snowbelt's market/desire with cheap, practical everyday all wheel drive sedans/wagons/small SUVs. I can't go a quarter of a mile in Massachusetts without seeing a Subaru. I love my Mazda, I wish Mazda did better, but I don't see them getting a sudden spike in sales like Subaru did. Every car in Mazda's inventory, apart from the Miata, has to compete against all the other car makers. I chose my Mazda6 over everything else in my price range because it was the most fun for the least beige without becoming a sports car or having shitty MPG.
